One of the questions we get asked most frequently is: “Do you have a showroom?” or “Can we try your hardware before we buy it?”. Clients are always welcome to visit our studio in Corrales, New Mexico, but this isn’t always an option. And while we are happy to do a virtual demo, sometimes clients prefer to see our hardware in person. That’s why we decided to take you on a road trip of our installations that are open to the public.
We are starting off with a road trip through our home state: New Mexico! We love working with clients in our own state and have quite a few projects to share that you can visit throughout the state. In this road trip, you will not only find places to visit our hardware, it will also show off our exhibit design and custom fabrication skills. Enjoy the ride!
We are starting our road trip off in Central New Mexico, which translates to the greater Albuquerque area, the largest city in the state.
The first opportunity to see some of our work in action is the New Mexico Film Kiosk at the Albuquerque International Sunport. Located in the terminal is a custom-fabricated kiosk that gives you an interactive tour of New Mexico film productions, historic and current. It is a great way for travelers to discover the landmarks, scenic wonders, and other iconic locations that make New Mexico a perfect destination for both filming and visiting.
Every autumn, balloon teams and spectators from around the world converge on Albuquerque's largest event, the International Balloon Fiesta, to take advantage of the valley's uniquely favorable wind patterns. Visitors can get a taste of the thrills with the Hot Air Balloon Target Competition, a game Ideum designed for our 65” Platform multitouch table to simulate the experience of navigating the skies of Albuquerque. The game is exclusively available inside the Balloon Fiesta during the event.
Not only does Albuquerque host the Balloon Fiesta every year, there also is the Anderson-Abruzzo Balloon Museum. The museum is dedicated to exploring the science and beauty of ballooning and other innovative and unusual forms of flight. The museum features two interactive exhibits from Ideum. Cloud Atlas features our 55” Presenter multitouch display and allows guests to investigate the world of clouds. The Albuquerque Box interactive teaches guests about the interaction between balloon technology, geography, and weather.
Visitors to the BUGarium at the ABQ BioPark can take on the role of a honeybee, Atlas beetle, or damselfly searching for food. Designed and developed by Ideum from the ground up, the “Be A Bug” experience combines our 65" Presenter touch display with Kinect motion detection so visitors can physically control the motion of their chosen bug.
And since we're on the topic of road trips, it's worth mentioning that the Botanic Gardens lie at one of the most significant intersections in North America, right where world-famous Route 66 crosses the Rio Grande along with historic El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro.
After you visit the Botanic Garden you can stop by the ABQ BioPark Zoo to visit the Penguin Chill Immersive Exhibit. Penguin Chill takes visitors on a scientific journey from the southern tip of South America to the Antarctic Peninsula. Exhibitry designed and built by Ideum complements the experience of watching live penguins by adding a vivid narrative in which visitors assume the role of researchers bound for the Antarctic - or even become a penguin for a thrilling motion-based interactive game.
Renowned New Mexico artist Frederico Vigil is painting a 2500+ square foot fresco on the history of Wine in the state. Ideum developed an interactive kiosk exhibit to document his progress and illuminate this remarkable endeavor. The interactive experience describes the history of the art forms of fresco-making and wine-making and uses one of our 65” Inline touch displays.
Located in downtown Albuquerque, the New Mexico Holocaust & Intolerance Museum features two interactive exhibits with Ideum hardware. The Witnessing Justice at Nuremberg exhibit features our Reader Rail Kiosk and the Seeds: The Human Cost exhibit features a custom-fabricated pedestal with a 34” Inline display integrated into it.
Just a quick drive south of downtown Albuquerque, the Valle de Oro National Wildlife Refuge's 570 acres of former farmland is now home to native flora and fauna of the Middle Rio Grande. Ideum designed the interior of the award-winning visitor center, complete with interactive experiences sharing information about river ecology, history, and more. You can see a range of Ideum hardware, software, and custom-fabricated elements on display at the Valle de Oro National Wildlife Refuge.
From Albuquerque, we are heading to the northern part of the state, where you will find the city of Santa Fe. Did you know that Santa Fe is the oldest capital city in the US?
We created two extra-large custom-fabricated exhibit cases for The New Mexico Showcase at the New Mexico History Museum in Santa Fe. The exhibit displays “Curious Contraptions and Collectible Curiosities” that take us back to an older way of doing things. These extraordinary artifact display cases have a unique design, built to fit seamlessly into the architecture of the gallery with hinged doors that give curators easy access to the cabinets from the front.
The final leg of our road trip will take you to the southern part of New Mexico. Driving through this part of the state you will become intimately familiar with the expansive vistas that New Mexico is well known for.
A visit to the Roswell International UFO Museum and Research Center will take you on an out-of-this-world adventure! We created two theme park-inspired interactive media experiences for the museum that share NASA research and archival footage in a playful new way. The immersive simulation shows off Ideum’s AV and Media Systems expertise. We also created an interactive Galactic Explorer search game for the museum that utilizes three of our 65” Presenter multi-touch displays.
We are currently working on multiple new projects within the state and will keep updating our road trip with new locations when they open. Some partners that we are collaborating with within the state are the New Mexico Museum of Space History, the National Hispanic Cultural Center.
