With the new year at our doorstep, we are taking one last chance to reflect on 2024. This year has brought some incredible opportunities, challenges, and creative growth to the Ideum team, and we want to thank our clients, partners, and community for supporting us along the way.

In December we also celebrated Ideum’s 25th anniversary, and in 2025 we will continue to celebrate Ideum’s 25 years in business. It’s an incredible milestone, and we couldn’t have reached it without you. Stay tuned for updates and throwbacks to our favorite projects throughout the year. Thank you for being an integral part of our 25-year story.

New multitouch products: Reader Rail and Tasting Table

In 2024 we celebrated the release of two new products: the Reader Rail and the Tasting Table. The Reader Rail is our 34” ultrawide kiosk with a wood base and solid surface material top. It is designed specifically for museums and others who are looking for ways to create interactive experiences.

While not officially released yet, we had multiple pop-up events and our first permanent installation of the Tasting Table and Wine Experience in 2024. The Tasting Table is a multitouch table designed for interactive tasting experiences. It is sold bundled with our wine-tasting software, the Wine Experience. The Tasting Table will be available for purchase in early 2025.

Exhibit design projects in 2024

We completed multiple exhibit design and software development projects that show off the diverse skillset of the Ideum team in 2024.

• For the North Carolina Museum of Natural Science’s new Dueling Dinosaurs exhibition, we installed three interactive exhibits including a physical reproduction of the Dueling Dinosaurs fossil pair. 
• We designed and developed interactive software for the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston to create a virtual interactive Japanese Buddhist Temple Room.
• We created a show-stopping 60 feet tall immersive projection theater that interacts with three interactive applications for the Da Vinci Science Center.
• Our fabrication team built two larger-than-life exhibit cases for the New Mexico History Museum.
• On Veterans Day the new exhibit Fighting for the Right to Fight: African American Experiences in World War II opened at the National WWII Museum. The interactive oral history station is a collaboration between Ideum, the museum, and StoryFile.
• While not completed yet, we can’t look back on 2024 without reflecting on our work on the Pathway to Peace exhibit for the Battleship Missouri Memorial. Throughout the year, various teams within Ideum have been full steam ahead with exhibit design, custom cabinet fabrication, and content creation for the exhibit. In December, we completed the first installation aboard the USS Missouri. We are very excited for the opening of the exhibit in September 2025.

Awards and Press

In 2024 Ideum celebrated multiple awards for our exhibit design and AV projects. The local press featured Ideum in multiple stories, recognizing our local and national projects.

• Our AV systems engineering team was awarded an Excellence Award in DM NVX by Crestron, for the state-of-the-art simulation lab they created for the local Kirtland Air Force Base.
• The three interactives we created for the Dueling Dinosaurs exhibit for the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences were awarded first place in the Interior Exhibit Category at the National Association for Interpretation (NAI) awards.
• The Tasting Table and Wine Experience won a DIZZIE Award in the Restaurants, Bars, and Foodservice category at the Digital Signage Experience conference. 
• KOAT featured us in their Made in New Mexico item. 
• KRQE published a story that features the Tasting Table and Wine Experience in the New Mexico Wine Studio. 
• The Santa Fe New Mexican wrote a story about the Tasting Table and Wine Experience and our pop-up events in Santa Fe 
• Albuquerque Business First featured Ideum’s founder and creative director Jim Spadaccini in their New Mexicans to Know item. 
• Albuquerque the Magazine featured Ideum in their behind-the-scenes item. 

Looking ahead to 2025

We have a lot of exciting plans for the year ahead! In January we will visit the Unified Wine and Grape Symposium in Sacramento with the Tasting Table and Wine Experience. In the spring, we will attend two conferences in our home state of New Mexico. You can find us at the Association of Children’s Museums InterActivity conference and the Association of Academic Museums and Galleries conference, both hosted in Albuquerque, NM.

In September, the Pathway to Peace exhibit for the Battleship Missouri Memorial will open, on the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. We also have some exciting new products in development that will be announced later in the year.
