Ideum has expanded its line of hardened touch tables and displays with the introduction of the +PLUS Series, a new generation of hardware designed to deliver exceptional clarity, precision, and durability. The +PLUS Series is available across a range of existing 55″ models and represents a major step forward in touchscreen display performance and construction.

Bringing Optical Bonding to Large Touchscreen Displays

At the heart of the +PLUS Series is a manufacturing process known as optical bonding, which permanently adheres the LCD display to the touch sensor using a transparent adhesive. This eliminates the air gap found in most large-format touchscreens, reducing internal reflections and increasing image brightness and contrast. Optical bonding is a technique more commonly seen in premium smartphones and small touch devices; by adapting it for large-format tables and displays, Ideum brings these same visual and durability benefits to interactive experiences in public and professional settings.

By bonding the glass sensor directly to the LCD, the +PLUS Series offers a number of performance improvements. The displays are significantly brighter and clearer, maintaining visibility even in spaces with strong ambient light. They also provide a wider and more consistent viewing angle, making content easy to see from different positions—an important consideration in museums, retail spaces, and collaborative environments.

The bonded design also enhances durability, creating a solid surface that is more resistant to dust, moisture, and physical impact. In addition, the +PLUS Series introduces a refined industrial design, with a slimmer aluminum top, no visible fasteners, and 3D-metal printed corners, resulting in a sleek and modern profile that complements contemporary environments.

Available Models

The +PLUS Series is now offered across several of Ideum’s 55″ models. While most models are available in either the original air-gap configuration or the new optically bonded format, two systems are now exclusively built with the +PLUS design. The Tasting Table, which has always featured an optically bonded display, benefits from improved dust and moisture resistance along with better viewing angles and image clarity. The 55″ Pico, previously produced with an air-gap display, has been fully transitioned to the +PLUS Series format, bringing greater durability and visual performance to Ideum’s compact touch coffee table.

When it comes to selecting the right +PLUS model, ideation and context matter. For example, the Ideum Platform II is often chosen for museum, educational, and government-space installations where robust, high-performance, multi-user interactive tables are required. The Drafting II is especially well-suited for architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) environments or plan-review studios. Its angled design and workstation-friendly options (keyboard tray, secondary monitor) make it ideal for collaborative plan review and design workflows. Meanwhile, the Pico model shines in informal or seated settings such as libraries, waiting rooms, children’s zones, and cafés, where the shorter height and compact footprint make it highly accessible and versatile.

Looking Ahead

The +PLUS Series reflects Ideum’s continued commitment to advancing the quality and reliability of large-format touch technology for public spaces, educational environments, and professional applications. Additional models and display sizes are planned for release in 2026 as the series continues to expand.
