Alayne Ballantine is the Director of Hardware Initiatives and Operations at Ideum. Alayne joined the Ideum hardware workshop team in 2021, and now leads the production and operational efforts for the company’s standard and custom hardware.Collaborating across departments on custom projects, exhibit installations, and logistics.
She studied Philosophy at the University of North Texas and brings more than fifteen years of experience in manufacturing and electronics production. Her background includes specialized PCB assembly, large-scale SMT manufacturing, and custom cable and wiring harness production. Her technical expertise also extends to the restoration and modification of pinball machines, incorporating custom electronics and 3D-printed components.
Outside of her professional work, Alayne is an avid creator whose work has been included in the permanent archives of the Metropolitan Museum of Art Library. She also serves on the boards of several New Mexico nonprofits supporting local arts education and community engagement.
