Creative Services Intern

Summary

Compensation: $15.00 /hour
Position Type: Internship.
Location: On-site in Corrales, New Mexico.

The Position

We seek a full-time Intern to work with our Creative Services (CS) group. This is a paid, fixed-term internship of 10-11 weeks (depending on the candidate’s availability and the timing of the hire). The CS group at Ideum develops interactive experiences for museums and other public spaces. Responsibilities may vary but include testing applications in various phases of development as a core part of the job. Depending on the candidate, they may also work with various teams within CS: graphic production, content development, social media, 3D printing, or programming, along with IOT electronics development.

The testing part of the job may involve multitouch screens, motion recognition, voice recognition, and other emerging technologies. We will work with the candidate to help them learn (tune, and if necessary, devise) the proper testing systems.

General Qualifications

The candidate needs to be passionate about new technology and about this position. We are looking for someone who is technologically proficient and has a deep knowledge of PC systems in particular. Visual design, writing, programming, and electronics experience are major pluses. The candidate will need to be able to contribute to technical documentation, client support, and social media, so strong written and verbal and communication skills are required. In addition, the position does require some repetitive work; we need a candidate that is comfortable with repetition and is extremely thorough. The candidate must be extremely proactive in both noting and communicating any aspect of an application (or other work) that seems illogical, broken, unintuitive, or in any way not behaving as expected.

This position will spend 20 hours/wk performing the user interface and software testing as described above. Tasks for the remaining 20 hours/wk will be determined by the qualifications and interests of the internship candidate. Those 20 hours may be spent programming, working on electronics in the shop, designing applications or marketing materials, writing, 3D modeling and/or animating, shooting and/or editing video and audio, producing graphics, or working on other aspects of Ideum’s varied hardware and software production. We are currently hiring for one internship position starting early October and ending Dec 16. This is a fixed term, 10 or 11 week position.

The Position

We seek a full-time Exhibit Technician who can help our multitouch tables and custom exhibit installations assembly and support group. We are looking for a detail-oriented, precision craftsman who can help us build the highest quality integrated computer systems.

General Qualifications

Candidates must have PC systems experience, experience working with basic tools, and excellent written and verbal communications skills. Experience with electronic systems is a strong plus.

We seek a highly motivated individual who can help with all aspects of our table production from building to QA to support. The right candidate might be also be asked to help with inventory, ordering, and logistics, so strong organizational skills are needed.

We also need help with technical documentation, email and phone support, so strong writing and communication skills are required. As a relatively small company (40+ people) that is fast growing, we have a diverse set of products and projects and need someone who is flexible and has a diverse skill set.

The Position

We seek an experienced Interactive Designer to help with our creative exhibit development projects and internal initiatives. Ideum is diverse; we work with top museums, well-known brands, and technology companies. Along with custom software development, we design and sell our own innovative multitouch tables. We also construct custom exhibits which utilize emerging technology including tangible interfaces, motion recognition, RFID, sensors, and other advances in computer technology.

Ideum does a wide variety of work and the Interactive Designer would work closely with our producers, other designers, software developers and engineers to help shape unique visitor experiences and support our innovative products. We are looking for someone who owns their designs, but can also communicate with others and be responsive to suggestions and changes from colleagues, clients and usability testers. Strong design skills, attention to detail, and a passion for the work are key. Our projects range from exhibit and software development particularly for our multitouch tables and touch walls, unique HCI exhibits, product marketing, web development, media production, and much more.

General Qualifications

We are looking for a self-starter with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who can work with our diverse staff of content specialists, designers, programmers, and engineers. Hands-on, self-motivated individuals thrive at Ideum. The Interactive Designer will own, protect, and manage the user experience throughout product and project life cycles. The ideal candidate will have a passion for design, history, science, art, culture, and new technology. We are looking for someone with a minimum of three years of relevant design experience and an outstanding portfolio.

In addition, the candidate needs to be technically savvy. A strong understanding of file types and preparation, file management, and optimization are needed.
