Ideum Partners with HP – Releases New TouchStand

We are happy to announce that we are now partners with HP.  This new partnership allows Ideum to provide better integrated hardware solutions.  We now offer our popular TouchStand kiosk enclosure complete with a HP TouchSmart 9100 Business PC. Both the stand and the computer come with a three-year warranty.

Over the last year we’ve sold hundreds of TouchStands and they have been used in museums, stores and other busy public environments around the world.  Later this year we will be integrating HP computers into our multitouch table.

Just How Many Points Can the New 3M 22" Multitouch Screen Handle?

There are many devices that claim to be multitouch, but only a few that can actually handle more than two points. Which is why we were anxiously awaiting our 20-point capacitive multitouch screen from 3M.

3M claims a >6 millisecond response time for all 20 fingers. Minus a millisecond stopwatch, we can vouch that the screen is highly responsive. Not to mention, we were able to get the screen to track 50 (yes, that’s five-oh) touch points within a GestureWorks-built app. And all of the apps that we originally built for our 50″ MT-50 Multitouch Table looked great on the high-resolution screen. It’s good to have true multitouch.

HP TouchSmart Kiosk Stand

The HP TouchSmart all-in-one PC is a low-cost and stable platform that has proven useful for deployment as a multitouch kiosk. In past exhibits we have deployed them using custom kiosk stands.

Beginning in July, we are offering an affordable off-the-shelf kiosk stand that will accommodate any size HP TouchSmart, you can learn more on our TouchStands page.

The rugged Ideum kiosk stand is made for professional installations in high-traffic environments. It is machined from heavy-gauge powder coated steel, with a dual -reinforced integrated VESA bracket, and precision high strength welding. It features an adjustable or fixed screen angle, and an ADA compliant adjustable height.

The stand incorporates a hidden cable run, with openings large enough to accommodate VGA or DVI cables, vibration dampening, pinhole power button access, and a small 18″ x 22″ footprint – designed for bolting to the floor.

The Ideum touch smart stand provides an elegant and affordable kiosk solution for the HP TouchSmart. Retail pricing will be around $1300, to be announced when we begin shipping in July. Update: September 1, pricing for 1 unit will be $1,300, a full product description and volume pricing will be published in later this month.
